What it is
As the first-ever PRSSA Peer Mentorship Program at The University of Alabama. This program fosters a mentor-mentee relationship between UA PRSSA members and promotes professional development throughout the Chapter.
How it works
Each member submits an application and is paired up with a mentor or mentee who is interested in similar practice areas of public relations. At the beginning of the semester, the mentors and mentees have a reveal party where they find out with whom they are paired. Throughout the semester, PRSSA will host social events catered specifically to mentors and mentees, and each pair is encouraged to spend time with one another and network with other pairs. Previous social events include headshot fundraisers, bowling and an end-of-semester brunch. If pairs cannot make it to the social events, mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet on their own to work on professional development.
How it can help you
The peer mentorship program fosters new relationships, networking opportunities and personal and professional growth. It can benefit you by opening doors and giving back. It will give you the opportunity to talk about your favorite classes at Alabama, your favorite LinkedIn tricks and the best interview tips. Mentoring matters – it will help you become involved and get to know people across our PRSSA Chapter.
